  I moved to Caddo Parish at 6 years of age. I was educated there until going to Baton Rouge for college. I returned after 3 years and eventually graduated from LSU-S while on the Shreveport Police Department. I was promoted to Sergeant and then to Chief of Police. After serving for 27 years, I felt equipped for the next step and was elected Sheriff of Caddo Parish, receiving 80% of the vote. I have held this position for the last 15 years. Crime has been reduced in each of the years except 1 year that equaled the year before. The financial condition of the Sheriff's Office has improved each year and remains the most transparent public office around. We were one of the first sheriff's offices to use experts to collect delinquent tax accounts, actually bringing in hundreds of thousands of dollars previously uncollected, at no cost to the citizens. Morale is outstanding as is the diversity within the office. Many community programs have been created and Safety Town was constructed and teaches thousands of elementary students each year. Dare and SRO programs in the high schools show our commitment to school age youth. The elderly are served in various ways and in our close ties to the Caddo Council on Aging. Reserve and Auxiliary programs show we encourage volunteerism. The sheriff's office works hard to protect all of our citizens, whether it be patrol, investigations, narcotics enforcement, domestic violence, and DWI enforcement, to name a few. We have reduced our jail population while lowering crime. We started the first prisoner reentry center in the state. I am proud to lead the fine men and women of the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office. I am also proud of my efforts as the Chairman of the Peace Officer Standards of Training (POST) for all of Louisiana. One of my passions is the need for education and training of all peace officers in Louisiana. I will be running for reelection in the fall and ask for your support. Thank you.
